Smart Students Insure Smartphone While Travelling

As a father of kids who are set to travel this fall I made absolutely sure that the insurance plan I took out included the replacement of my son’s iPhone.

You might think I have my priorities wrong. What about money, food, lost bank cards or travellers checks?

Let me explain my concept in finding a travel insurance provider who would also cover lost or damaged Android phone within a policy.

Run straight out of Money. If my son runs out of money he will contact me immediately by phone call, text or perhaps Skype on his iPhone. Without a telephone, he doesn’t have any one to telephone immediately.

Run straight out of Food. If he as run straight out of food, he can share with me his location using Google maps. From there I can find out the nearest local town with a cash machine, local bank or local superstore. I will then transfer money to his account or wire to that local bank. Problem solved.

Lost bank cards. It would not be the first time my son has mislaid his bank cards. But should be lose his bank cards travelling New Zealand I will resolve his problem if I am in touch with him through iPhone. Again I can wire money to the bank branch nearest to his location.

Lost Travellers Cheques. After cancelling the lost cheques, I will either acquire other ones issued at the nearest bank or travel agent to his location or transfer money.

If his Android phone were lost, can you imagine the parental worry? Whilst most parents complain about their children’s use of their phone, one indisputable fact is that the phone reduces the lack of communication and decreases the strain of not knowing where your children are.

So the next time your children come to a decision to go travelling, ensure you ask about smart phone coverage within the student travel insurance policy. Could be an absolute lifesaver.
